Ameritech pays $3.1 million in April
Ameritech paid $3.1 million in fines this month for failing tomeet competitive standards set by the state, regulators announcedtoday. The phone company has been fined nearly $14 million sincelast July for missing benchmarks aimed at fully opening its lines tocompetition. Those fines come on top of the $30 million Ameritechpaid in Illinois after missing another standard for retail customers'repairs for the year 2000.
